NEW Pixi + Aspynovard Glow-y Powder: Review & Swatches

The New Pixi Highlighter / Cheek Powders  are apart of their blogger collaborations they recently launched. Lifestyle Blogger Aspyn Ovard created three gorgeous Glow-y Powders for all skin tones and the best part is you can get them right at your local Target!  Pixi Beauty explains “these velvety soft highlighter adds a hint of glow, creating a luminous effect. Natural mineral powder hydrates and reflects light to brighten complexion” I could not agree more. Pixi Beauty has a way of creating products that give you a very natural no makeup, makeup kind of look. I am loving everything I have been trying and these Glow-y Powders are no exception! Get ready to glow on a budget! Look at this pigment!!

Pixi Highlighter

These are the first highlighters and powders I have ever tried that give me the same feeling as BECCA Cosmetics Highlighters. If you have been following me for some time you know that says a lot because to me there are really no comparisons to BECCA highlighters. These have that buttery smooth feel to them with absolutely no chalkiness or glitter. Its a beautiful subtle glow that can be used for day or layered at night for that extra glow we all secretly want. Or is that just me? lol Notice on the brush how you can see the product, that is a must for me when it comes to highlighters.

Pixi Highlighter

Product Information:

  • 3 Shades Available –  Rome Rose, London Luster, Santorini Sunset
  • Available at Target and Pixibeauty.com
  • Retail for $16.00 (USD)

I know $16 may seem like a larger amount for a drugstore product however the pan sizes are big and when I say these are high end products at the drugstore they are! The Strobe & Sculpt brush in this collaboration is also equally fabulous and I highly recommend it. The brush was designed by Youtuber Maryam Maquillage  (stay tuned as I will be giving full review of the brush and Strobing and Bronzing palette soon)

Santorini Sunset won my heart immediately and Rome Rose I can not wait to mix it with some nude blushes for the summer time. What do you think? Have you tried these yet? Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!!

Smashbox Cover Shot Palette: Swatches & Product Details

If you have been following me for a while you know I am not a huge fan of eye shadow palettes. I know it seems crazy lol. I just find at times there are colors in a palette I wont use and then to me that is just a waste of eye shadow. Who else feels this way? I can not be the only one! Hehe. However the Smashbox Cover Shot Palette Collection offers a shade range for everyone! Whatever look you are wanting to achieve Smashbox has you covered.  From the perfect smokey eye, to everyday neutral and even to the brightest colors available there is a palette for you.

Smashbox Cover Shot Palette

Per the Smashbox Website: The collection of 7 high-impact eye shadow palettes were influenced by trends seen in their L.A. photo studio. How fun is that??!!?? Each compact, slim and travel friendly  palette offers 6 shadows and a 2 double sided base shades. These shadows are so pigmented and blend like a dream. The pigment packs a lot of punch with the brush so I found having a lighter hand worked much better for application.

Each palette is sold for $29.00. Here are the shade names

  • Metallic: Fierce foil finish (not shown)
  • Matte: high-coverage, velvety (not shown)
  • Golden Hour: Creamy, lit-from-within shades (not shown)
  • Softlight: Soft-focus, wearable shimmers
  • Smoky: Effortless and modern
  • Bold: Transformative and electrifying
  • Ablaze: Hot, desert-inspired shades

Smashbox generously sent me 4 from the collection (Bold, Ablaze, Smokey& Softlight) The two  I have fallen in love from my collection are Ablaze and Smokey. I am still getting the hang of the colors in Ablaze as these dessert inspired shades are very new to me. I am so use to either a smokey eye or more brown neutral colors.

Lets get to some swatches! I used my finger and did not have to rub hard at all. These instantly felt creamy to the touch but again I found they can be very pigmented (which is a good thing) but it took me a minute to get the hang of it with my brushes.

NEW Skin Kiss: Makeup Revolution Highlighter

Its $10 Or Less Tuesday and I am so exited to talk about the New Skin Kiss Makeup Revolution Highlighter collection that is sold exclusively at Ulta Beauty.  $10 or less Tuesday is such a fun day for me as a beauty blogger. I truly love finding affordable makeup. Even if you have a bigger budget who doesn’t love a good find for less money?!!? I know I do! I grew up on drugstore makeup and even though I do love my higher end products sometimes drugstore products are just as good if not better! I love a good highlight especially when its a natural look, something I can wear daily or even layer for a bigger pop for a night out!

These highlighters are are described on the Ulta Website: “Kiss skin with a healthy-looking glow! Makeup Revolution’s Skin Kiss is a crushed pigment highlighter that brightens and adds a natural touch of illumination throughout the year”

Product Details:

  •  $9.00
  •  Three shades available (Peach Kiss – Ice Kiss – Golden Kiss)
  •  Pan Size is very big! So not only are these affordable but you are getting a lot of product

Makeup Revolution Highlighter Review

Makeup Revolution Highlighter - Skin Kiss - Peach Kiss

As I swatched them they felt pretty good. I am not a fan instantly when a highlighter feels hard or gritty. Does that make sense? Anyone else feel this way? Honestly I think I am spoiled with BECCA Highlighters because those are like butter and if we are going to talk about favorite of all time they are BECCA for me.  These are indeed soft. At first I was not sure if they seemed too glittery or chalky but as I swatched more and tried them on, they are not. It is indeed a nice glow that can be subtle for everyday or built up for a night out. These are finger swatches and I did not need to press hard for pigment.

Review: NEW MAC Prep and Prime Essential Oil and Lip Scrubtious

I was so excited when I received these products because I have been living for face oils. I have been eyeing the MAC Prep and Prime Essential Oils and Lip Scrubs ever since I heard MAC was coming out with them. The Chicago winters can be brutal on my skin and this year I have been more dry than ever. I’ve said it before and I will say it again having kids changes your skin, period. Its insane!!!! Okay moving on lol Lets talk these oils first!

Per the site, MAC Prep and Prime Essential Oil is “a unique oil that leaves skin feeling energized and moisturized with a healthy glow … Infused with natural properties derived from plants, making it nourishing and gentle for the skin.  Leaves skin feeling energized and moisturized with a healthy glow. This unique oil can be used alone, under makeup or mixed with a treatment or makeup to improve comfort, emollience  or wear of product”

They  come in two scents and retail for $27.00

MAC Prep and Prime

I was nervous to open these because I was hoping the scent was not going to be over powering because who wants that? Right?? Am I the only one? Well I am happy to report the smell is perfect! The fragrance is not strong at all, so perfect for us sensitive skin people. I am not going to lie I have tried these in so many ways as MAC suggested and I love them, love them love them! My favorite way to use this oil right now is to put a few drops in my moisturizer for the day. It leaves me with an extra glow on top of extra hydration which I need right now! I have used it alone at night on those extra dry skin days, I have used this on my lips and have used before makeup application. This oil is now a winter staple for me and I have considered purchasing the Prep and Prime Oil Stick as well. I know the price may seem like a lot for such a small bottle but when a product is versatile I consider that a beauty investment and that is a win in my book.

When I tried this oil on my lips it was after I used the Lip Scrub and I just felt like I gave my lips a facial. I loved it! Just like the oils I absolutely loved these scrubs and I will tell you why. The biggest stand out about the Lip Scrumptious line is they leave your lips hydrated and silky feeling. If you are new to lip scrubs and/or have never tried, some scrubs tend to leave your lips with that dry and chapped feeling. Does that make sense? Who else experiences this? But these 100% do not!

MAC Prep and Prime - MAC Lip Scrub

MAC Lip Scrub Review

Per the MAC site: “A sugar-based exfoliator that gently buffs away dry and flaky skin … with a formula enhanced by hydrating conditioners leaving lips soft and oh so smoochable”

They  come in 5 flavors and retail for $16.00

So not only are these super hydrating but you only need a pea size if that to get the job done. So yes this is a $16 lip scrub but it will last you forever. I use to exfoliate my lips with whatever scrub I had in my shower along with other lip scrub products I have tried but this one just stands out to me. I do have a Chap Stick scrub to try so I will keep you posted as I am also working on my DUPE III list (See Previous Dupe Lists Here & Here)

Since we are talking about MAC Prep & Prime I have to make a couple honorable mentions to two other products.

Both of these products are very hyped up buy for a good reason. Fix + is a staple spray for me and I use it before makeup, after makeup, I’ve sprayed my beauty sponge with it and sprayed to my eye shadow brushes for a more intense look. Its a product I 100% can not live without (it also comes in a sized to go, so perfect for trying out the product!) The Prep and Prime Lip does wonders for when I am going to rock a red lip. It claims to approves the appearance of lip products and prevents feathering and it really does.

I hope you enjoyed this review! Let me know if you have tried any of these and what you are liking or disliking about them.

Wander Beauty:Multitasking Beauty Essentials

If you travel or are a woman on the go Wander Beauty is a brand you need in your life.  The brand promotes their products as Multitasking Beauty Essentials, Makeup in a snap and ready in a New York Minute. How fabulous does that sound??? This was so appealing to me being a Mom of two and to be honest with you I normally do my makeup on the train to work or I have literally 5-10 minutes in the morning to get it done. Having easy yet effective products on hand are key for my everyday beauty routine. I had the pleasure to test out two products that were sent to my by Wander Beauty.  Even the names of the products give off the multitasking vibes and I love it!!

WANDER BEAUTY ON-THE-GLOW BLUSH AND ILLUMINATOR (per the wander beauty site): The On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator is a multitasking beauty enhancer that adds gorgeous color and luminous sheen to every complexion.

This comes in 4 shades: (see them here)

  • Bare/Nude Glow a subtle pink with nude undertones (The one I chose)
  • Soft Pink/ Nude Glow petal pink with cool undertones
  • Coral Rose/ Nude Glow peachy pink with warm undertones
  • Berry Whisper/ Nude Glow mauve rose with neutral undertones

The highlighter gives a gorgeous natural everyday glow to the skin. It was creamy and easy to blend with my fingers. I wasn’t able to blend the blush shade as well with my fingers but I used my small Elf Stippling brush and it worked well. Any product that I can use my fingers with is a win in my book especially when I am on the go. Lets not forget the beautiful gold compact packaging that makes it so easy to throw in a smaller size makeup bag.

Wander Beauty
Shades: Bare/Nude Glow & Black Jet /Gilded

Eyes on the Fly Dual Cream Shadow and Eyeliner(per the Wander Beauty website):A dual-ended, highly-pigmented creamy shadow and smoky eyeliner stick created for easy application and long-lasting, instant eye looks on the go.

This comes in 3 shades: (see them here)

  • Black Jet (black eyeliner)/ Gilded (bronze shadow) (The one I chose)
  • Black Jet (black eyeliner)/ Concrete Jungle (taupe shadow)
  • French Press (brown eyeliner)/ Shell Beach (champange-peach shadow)

This Eye on the fly pencil is just perfect. The products glide on like butter and the bronze shade is perfect for everyday and multiple looks. I took this with me when I traveled to California as bronze/gold tones are my everyday makeup looks for both night and day. You can keep them natural for day and build for a more dramatic look for night (especially when the eyeliner is built right in!)  I love stick eye shadows because they are compact and easy to just place on the lid and blend with your fingers. I have tried this with both a primer and without. It blends better without a primer on but we all know eye primer is key for product longevity. I have been using it for my quick makeup routine in the mornings and its just fab! The Eye on the fly duo is the standout product for me of the two!

Wander Beauty
Shades: Nude Glow/Bare & Black Jet/Gilded

Have you tried Wander Beauty? Does this sound like a brand you would be interested in? Let me know in the comments. Oh and what are you must have easy on the go products? I am always on the hunt for more!!!

MAC RED LIPSTICK: Three Must Haves

My love for Red Lipstick is pretty recent considering my beauty obsessed life started years and years ago. I would say probably in the last year, so recent right???? I always felt I was one of those people who could not pull off the color. But once I discovered Lady Danger everything changed. I started wearing it for fancy nights out with an all over bronzed makeup look and just fell in love! For me when I hear MAC Red Lipstick, I just think Lady Danger but ooooh boy there are SO MANY  MAC Red Lipstick options.

Allure Magazine has been my beauty bible for almost 20 years.  It has shaped my beauty routine, filled my makeup storage with allure best of beauty products, and a magazine subscription I look forward to monthly. So when I read their article on The Best Red Lipsticks of All Time, my obsession for Red Lipstick grew stronger. They declared Russian Red, Ruby Woo & Lady Danger as “The MAC Holy Trinity”  and this is the reason I just had to have all three in my collection! You will see they are three very different red tones and absolute perfection.

MAC RED LIPSTICK - MAC Ruby Woo - MAC Russian Red - MAC Lady Danger

Swatches Top To Bottom:

Russian Red: (Matte – Intense Blueish Red) Per Allure: “is a vampy crimson with neutral-to-cool undertones. Even its origin story is amazing: The then-up-and-coming cosmetics company created it for Madonna’s 1990 “Blond Ambition” tour, and it’s been a cult classic (and go-to winter red) ever since”

This most certainly is a deeper truer red on my lips and I am excited to have this for the winter months.

Ruby Woo: (Retro Matte – Very matte vivid blue-red) Per Allure: “…a bright cherry color with a cooling hint of blue that’s seen more red carpets than Ryan Seacrest. Proof it looks amazing on every skin tone? A diverse celebrity fan club including Lauren Conrad, Sia, Christina Hendricks, and Rita Ora. Rihanna was so obsessed, she made her own limited-edition version called Riri Woo in 2013. It sold out in three hours”

When they say very matte it indeed is very matte. I find it best to exfoliate first (I’m obsessing over the new MAC Lip Scrubs) and I use my MAC PrepNPrime and it lasts forever and does not get chunky or dry.

Lady Danger: (Matte – Vivid bright coral-red) Per Allure: “…a cherry-red spiked with neon orange that looks particularly juicy against darker skin. No worries if you’re pale, though—the most eye-catching shade in the red-lip triumvirate pops like crazy on every skin tone”

I could not agree more with this description. The orange that pops from this lipstick is STUNNING and it indeed looks fabulous on all skin tones. I prefer this one for the summer with a tan and bronzed makeup look but I have rocked it in the dead of winter! Its just my absolute go to Red Lipstick!

Swatches: NEW Wet N Wild Eyeshadow Palette

Since its #10orlesstuesday on my Instagram Page, what better way to celebrate than with two NEW Wet N Wild Eyeshadow palettes. Per the Wet N Wild website: “This palette of ten neutral shades is anything but ordinary. You’ve got every bronze-hued shade that tickles your fancy, from mattes to shimmers to satins to sparkles. Includes a jet-milled base, silicone technology, and pearl density to make them uber-pigmented, smooth like silk, and last for hours” I picked up both palettes available in the collection and guess what? They are only $6.99 a piece! The palettes can be found on the Wet N Wild Website or you can buy them at your local Walgreens. The two shades available are Bare Necessities and Nude Awakenings.

I wanted to swatch them right away and get them up on the blog so you can see how beautiful the colors are. I am new to Wet N Wild Eyeshadow but I am obsessed with their Color Icon blushes so I can not wait to dig in and play (so stay tuned). While swatching the palettes the shadows did not seem dry or non pigmented. I did not press my finger in heavy either to get my swatches so first impression based off swatches is pretty darn good!

SHADE: Bare Necessities – I personally love the three gold/bronze shades in this palette. The color range is perfect for an every day neutral to a darker grey smokey eye.

Wet N Wild Eyeshadow

Wet N Wild Eyeshadow

SHADE: Nude Awakening – This palette also offers a day to night look but has more rose tones in it. So if you prefer this type of smokey eye I would go with this one. I just prefer more golds and bronze tones but I probably should branch out more with color lol Who else has this problem!???

Wet N Wild Eyeshadow

So what do you think? Will you be picking up either of these palettes? I hear so many fabulous things about the Color Icon EyeShadow Palettes from my friends and fellow bloggers so I will be picking some up of those as well.

Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! Happy $10 OR LESS TUESDAY!!!!!

A BEAUTY APP EVERY BEAUTYLOVER MUST HAVE

Have you heard of Lovelyloot App?  Lovelyloot is a Beauty app where you can “save all your beauty products in one place! Keep track of the items you love, remember the ones you want to try and never forget a product again!”  It’s pretty much an app that every beauty lover needs and the best part it’s FREE! I know you may be thinking “I  already use Pinterest so why would I need this app?” I thought that at first as well. However Lovelyloot is the best approach for product organization.

I have been using the app for some time now and I am in love. Not only as a beauty lover but as a beauty blogger this app has kept me so organized with products I want to try, review for my blog and buy of course!!! Whether you have a wish list of luxury items to buy, a list skincare products that didn’t work for you or a list of lipsticks to buy the Lovelyloot app has you covered!  Let’s take a look at three lists I have created to give you a better idea of how this app will work for you!

Lovelyloot App - Beauty App

Here is my link to my luxury wish list. Yes you can share your links! How fun is that?!!!?? Hello birthday lists made easy!!! I have so many luxury items I want to try and seeing them all in one space will help me budget my money as to what I truly want to buy first for myself. You can search for items you want directly on the app and add them or on your next trip to Sephora you can just take pictures of your must have luxury items and add them to your list! I have also taken screen shots of pictures on Instagram and then add the image to the app and in the notes wrote down info such as brand and shade name. Super easy and organized!

I absolutely wish I had this app a few months ago because I was at MAC swatching blushes to get ideas for my Custom Palette. When I started to purchase blushes a couple weeks ago I could not remember one that I swatched that I fell in love with. If I had the Lovelyloot App I could have just snapped a picture of the name and put it in my luxury wishlist! How many times has this happened to you?

Lovelyloot App - Beauty App

Lovely Loot App - Beauty App

As a blogger I love finding $10 or less items for my blog and Instagram. Lovelyloot makes it simple for me to create a list of items I want to buy and try that are $10 or less or even take pictures of products from my own collection so I dont forget to showcase them on Tuesdays!! If I see fab finds scrolling through Instagram or if I am at the drugstore  I can either search on the app and add it or snap a picture of it at the store and it’s all set and organized for me in one place! See my current $10 or less wish list items here. Another great way I am using this as a blogger is for my Dupe List Series on my blog. I have created a list of items in my collection I want to dupe for future blog posts here.  Just like $10 or less beauty products I have a drugstore list as well. Drugstore products are some of my favorite so having a list of items I want to try and being able to take pictures of products I haven’t heard of (for blogger references) is perfect!

I have found this app to be extremely helpful for my blogging but it translates so well for the everyday beauty lover. My sister in law is loving it as well as my friends for all thier beauty product needs and organization. What do you think? Do you think you will be downloading this app? You can download the app here for free. I would love to hear your thoughts!

MAC Eyeshadow Swatches: My Custom Palette

I am so happy I have finally completed my custom MAC Eyeshadow Palette even though I know I will buy more! Filling up all the slots has given me a sense of fulfillment and I know each and every shade will get used which is even better. I wanted to make sure to get my MAC Eyeshadow Swatches up for you right away because every time I have posted part of the palette on my instagram account it has gotten a ton of attention and I received so many requests for swatches with shade names. So I hope you enjoy 🙂

Just as a little backstory on how all this got started. I had a ton of MAC single shadows and I had such a hard time with storage (Its now rare for me to ever by a single shadow). I also had 2 custom 4 pan palettes so I decided it was time to buy the double sided palette with 2 inserts. I searched on YouTube for “How to Depot MAC Eyeshadows” and started my project. A fabulous videos is right here (side note I tried the flat iron but I used a lighter and tongs so I would not burn my fingers) I also bought small magnets from Micheals similar to these. The depotting was not hard at all and once I was done I submitted my empties for the back to MAC recycle program to get my free lippies. See BACK to MAC information here.

There are still so many shades I want and I did discover some of my eyeshadows are old and patchy and need to be replaced. I did not edit these pictures at all to make sure colors were true. Some of the shimmer/frost in the shades were hard to pick up on camera as well as my lighter shades.

Olay Eyes Collection

“Introducing The Olay Eyes, a collection designed to treat the 5 eye aging patterns that affect 95% of woman. Whether your concern is dark circles, puffiness, wrinkles, sagging or all of it, Olay now has a solution to making your eyes look ageless” If you have been following my skincare journey you know that my eyes have been such a problem area. Dark Circles, Puffiness and dryness all came with a vengeance after my son was born! Trying out eye products has been something I have fallen in love with because typically no matter the ingredient I typically have no reactions so its fun to see what works and what does not! To read other skincare blog posts see them here, here and here.

When I received this package from Olay three products instantly stood out to me. I will include a mini review with them along withe the product breakdown of this fabulous collection!  Lets get started!!!

The Ultimate: Olay Eyes Ultimate Eye Cream

  • Dark Circles
  • Wrinkles
  • Puffiness
  • Supercharged with peptides & vitamins
  • Color Correcting technology

This is super creamy and moisturizing and does indeed give you some color under your eyes to hide dark circles. I really didn’t notice a difference in puffiness but over time the look of my eyes looked more awake!

Olay Eyes

The Brightener: Olay Eyes Illuminating Eye Cream

  • Dark Circles
  • dual swirl formula
  • light reflecting pigments
  • gel to moisturize

This has a subtle illuminating affect and does make your under eyes appear brightened. I would mix this one with the Ultimate eye cream for maximum affect. However I do prefer my Origins Gin Zing Eye Cream  over these as it just worked better for me.

Olay Eyes

The Depuffer: Olay Eyes De-Puffing Eye Roller

  • Eye bags
  • Instantly Reduces puffiness
  • precision micro rollers that cool & massage skin

Out of all the 3 I tried this was my favorite. You instantly feel the magic of the rollers and massaging them on your skin feels amazing. I will be repurchasing this product!

Olay Eyes

The next two I did not try. I felt the problem areas these two eye creams tackle were for more mature skin so I gave them to my mother in law and just like me she is an avid Olay user and fan!
