Smashbox Cover Shot Palette: Swatches & Product Details

If you have been following me for a while you know I am not a huge fan of eye shadow palettes. I know it seems crazy lol. I just find at times there are colors in a palette I wont use and then to me that is just a waste of eye shadow. Who else feels this way? I can not be the only one! Hehe. However the Smashbox Cover Shot Palette Collection offers a shade range for everyone! Whatever look you are wanting to achieve Smashbox has you covered.  From the perfect smokey eye, to everyday neutral and even to the brightest colors available there is a palette for you.

Smashbox Cover Shot Palette

Per the Smashbox Website: The collection of 7 high-impact eye shadow palettes were influenced by trends seen in their L.A. photo studio. How fun is that??!!?? Each compact, slim and travel friendly  palette offers 6 shadows and a 2 double sided base shades. These shadows are so pigmented and blend like a dream. The pigment packs a lot of punch with the brush so I found having a lighter hand worked much better for application.

Each palette is sold for $29.00. Here are the shade names

  • Metallic: Fierce foil finish (not shown)
  • Matte: high-coverage, velvety (not shown)
  • Golden Hour: Creamy, lit-from-within shades (not shown)
  • Softlight: Soft-focus, wearable shimmers
  • Smoky: Effortless and modern
  • Bold: Transformative and electrifying
  • Ablaze: Hot, desert-inspired shades

Smashbox generously sent me 4 from the collection (Bold, Ablaze, Smokey& Softlight) The two  I have fallen in love from my collection are Ablaze and Smokey. I am still getting the hang of the colors in Ablaze as these dessert inspired shades are very new to me. I am so use to either a smokey eye or more brown neutral colors.

Lets get to some swatches! I used my finger and did not have to rub hard at all. These instantly felt creamy to the touch but again I found they can be very pigmented (which is a good thing) but it took me a minute to get the hang of it with my brushes.

Wander Beauty:Multitasking Beauty Essentials

If you travel or are a woman on the go Wander Beauty is a brand you need in your life.  The brand promotes their products as Multitasking Beauty Essentials, Makeup in a snap and ready in a New York Minute. How fabulous does that sound??? This was so appealing to me being a Mom of two and to be honest with you I normally do my makeup on the train to work or I have literally 5-10 minutes in the morning to get it done. Having easy yet effective products on hand are key for my everyday beauty routine. I had the pleasure to test out two products that were sent to my by Wander Beauty.  Even the names of the products give off the multitasking vibes and I love it!!

WANDER BEAUTY ON-THE-GLOW BLUSH AND ILLUMINATOR (per the wander beauty site): The On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator is a multitasking beauty enhancer that adds gorgeous color and luminous sheen to every complexion.

This comes in 4 shades: (see them here)

  • Bare/Nude Glow a subtle pink with nude undertones (The one I chose)
  • Soft Pink/ Nude Glow petal pink with cool undertones
  • Coral Rose/ Nude Glow peachy pink with warm undertones
  • Berry Whisper/ Nude Glow mauve rose with neutral undertones

The highlighter gives a gorgeous natural everyday glow to the skin. It was creamy and easy to blend with my fingers. I wasn’t able to blend the blush shade as well with my fingers but I used my small Elf Stippling brush and it worked well. Any product that I can use my fingers with is a win in my book especially when I am on the go. Lets not forget the beautiful gold compact packaging that makes it so easy to throw in a smaller size makeup bag.

Wander Beauty
Shades: Bare/Nude Glow & Black Jet /Gilded

Eyes on the Fly Dual Cream Shadow and Eyeliner(per the Wander Beauty website):A dual-ended, highly-pigmented creamy shadow and smoky eyeliner stick created for easy application and long-lasting, instant eye looks on the go.

This comes in 3 shades: (see them here)

  • Black Jet (black eyeliner)/ Gilded (bronze shadow) (The one I chose)
  • Black Jet (black eyeliner)/ Concrete Jungle (taupe shadow)
  • French Press (brown eyeliner)/ Shell Beach (champange-peach shadow)

This Eye on the fly pencil is just perfect. The products glide on like butter and the bronze shade is perfect for everyday and multiple looks. I took this with me when I traveled to California as bronze/gold tones are my everyday makeup looks for both night and day. You can keep them natural for day and build for a more dramatic look for night (especially when the eyeliner is built right in!)  I love stick eye shadows because they are compact and easy to just place on the lid and blend with your fingers. I have tried this with both a primer and without. It blends better without a primer on but we all know eye primer is key for product longevity. I have been using it for my quick makeup routine in the mornings and its just fab! The Eye on the fly duo is the standout product for me of the two!

Wander Beauty
Shades: Nude Glow/Bare & Black Jet/Gilded

Have you tried Wander Beauty? Does this sound like a brand you would be interested in? Let me know in the comments. Oh and what are you must have easy on the go products? I am always on the hunt for more!!!

MAC RED LIPSTICK: Three Must Haves

My love for Red Lipstick is pretty recent considering my beauty obsessed life started years and years ago. I would say probably in the last year, so recent right???? I always felt I was one of those people who could not pull off the color. But once I discovered Lady Danger everything changed. I started wearing it for fancy nights out with an all over bronzed makeup look and just fell in love! For me when I hear MAC Red Lipstick, I just think Lady Danger but ooooh boy there are SO MANY  MAC Red Lipstick options.

Allure Magazine has been my beauty bible for almost 20 years.  It has shaped my beauty routine, filled my makeup storage with allure best of beauty products, and a magazine subscription I look forward to monthly. So when I read their article on The Best Red Lipsticks of All Time, my obsession for Red Lipstick grew stronger. They declared Russian Red, Ruby Woo & Lady Danger as “The MAC Holy Trinity”  and this is the reason I just had to have all three in my collection! You will see they are three very different red tones and absolute perfection.

MAC RED LIPSTICK - MAC Ruby Woo - MAC Russian Red - MAC Lady Danger

Swatches Top To Bottom:

Russian Red: (Matte – Intense Blueish Red) Per Allure: “is a vampy crimson with neutral-to-cool undertones. Even its origin story is amazing: The then-up-and-coming cosmetics company created it for Madonna’s 1990 “Blond Ambition” tour, and it’s been a cult classic (and go-to winter red) ever since”

This most certainly is a deeper truer red on my lips and I am excited to have this for the winter months.

Ruby Woo: (Retro Matte – Very matte vivid blue-red) Per Allure: “…a bright cherry color with a cooling hint of blue that’s seen more red carpets than Ryan Seacrest. Proof it looks amazing on every skin tone? A diverse celebrity fan club including Lauren Conrad, Sia, Christina Hendricks, and Rita Ora. Rihanna was so obsessed, she made her own limited-edition version called Riri Woo in 2013. It sold out in three hours”

When they say very matte it indeed is very matte. I find it best to exfoliate first (I’m obsessing over the new MAC Lip Scrubs) and I use my MAC PrepNPrime and it lasts forever and does not get chunky or dry.

Lady Danger: (Matte – Vivid bright coral-red) Per Allure: “…a cherry-red spiked with neon orange that looks particularly juicy against darker skin. No worries if you’re pale, though—the most eye-catching shade in the red-lip triumvirate pops like crazy on every skin tone”

I could not agree more with this description. The orange that pops from this lipstick is STUNNING and it indeed looks fabulous on all skin tones. I prefer this one for the summer with a tan and bronzed makeup look but I have rocked it in the dead of winter! Its just my absolute go to Red Lipstick!

Swatches: NEW Wet N Wild Eyeshadow Palette

Since its #10orlesstuesday on my Instagram Page, what better way to celebrate than with two NEW Wet N Wild Eyeshadow palettes. Per the Wet N Wild website: “This palette of ten neutral shades is anything but ordinary. You’ve got every bronze-hued shade that tickles your fancy, from mattes to shimmers to satins to sparkles. Includes a jet-milled base, silicone technology, and pearl density to make them uber-pigmented, smooth like silk, and last for hours” I picked up both palettes available in the collection and guess what? They are only $6.99 a piece! The palettes can be found on the Wet N Wild Website or you can buy them at your local Walgreens. The two shades available are Bare Necessities and Nude Awakenings.

I wanted to swatch them right away and get them up on the blog so you can see how beautiful the colors are. I am new to Wet N Wild Eyeshadow but I am obsessed with their Color Icon blushes so I can not wait to dig in and play (so stay tuned). While swatching the palettes the shadows did not seem dry or non pigmented. I did not press my finger in heavy either to get my swatches so first impression based off swatches is pretty darn good!

SHADE: Bare Necessities – I personally love the three gold/bronze shades in this palette. The color range is perfect for an every day neutral to a darker grey smokey eye.

SHADE: Nude Awakening – This palette also offers a day to night look but has more rose tones in it. So if you prefer this type of smokey eye I would go with this one. I just prefer more golds and bronze tones but I probably should branch out more with color lol Who else has this problem!???

So what do you think? Will you be picking up either of these palettes? I hear so many fabulous things about the Color Icon EyeShadow Palettes from my friends and fellow bloggers so I will be picking some up of those as well.

Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! Happy $10 OR LESS TUESDAY!!!!!

MAC Eyeshadow Swatches: My Custom Palette

I am so happy I have finally completed my custom MAC Eyeshadow Palette even though I know I will buy more! Filling up all the slots has given me a sense of fulfillment and I know each and every shade will get used which is even better. I wanted to make sure to get my MAC Eyeshadow Swatches up for you right away because every time I have posted part of the palette on my instagram account it has gotten a ton of attention and I received so many requests for swatches with shade names. So I hope you enjoy 🙂

Just as a little backstory on how all this got started. I had a ton of MAC single shadows and I had such a hard time with storage (Its now rare for me to ever by a single shadow). I also had 2 custom 4 pan palettes so I decided it was time to buy the double sided palette with 2 inserts. I searched on YouTube for “How to Depot MAC Eyeshadows” and started my project. A fabulous videos is right here (side note I tried the flat iron but I used a lighter and tongs so I would not burn my fingers) I also bought small magnets from Micheals similar to these. The depotting was not hard at all and once I was done I submitted my empties for the back to MAC recycle program to get my free lippies. See BACK to MAC information here.

There are still so many shades I want and I did discover some of my eyeshadows are old and patchy and need to be replaced. I did not edit these pictures at all to make sure colors were true. Some of the shimmer/frost in the shades were hard to pick up on camera as well as my lighter shades.

Japonesque Blush Collection: Swatches and Product Info

I have been using the Japonesque Blush in Shade 2 for almost 2 years now. I saw Manny MUA pair it with  Benefit Hoola on a video of his and I knew I had to have. Hoola and Shade 2 are just perfect together!!!! I immediately fell in love and it has since become one of my all time favorite blushes and that is saying a lot as I am a HUGE BLUSH junkie. Its my biggest makeup weakness so I have tried many! When Japonesque sent me their entire Blush Collection for review I was beyond excited and of course had great exceptions.

Their Velvet Touch Blush Collection comes in 6 shades and are $22 per blush. I find this price to be fair and reasonable as the pans are fairly large and the quality is on point!!! Super pigmented and they blend effortlessly on your cheeks and the packaging is just so fun and colorful!!

RCMA No Color Powder: Review and Information

The Hype is real. WOW the hype is real. When I received the RCMA No Color Powder from Frends Beauty I was hesitant to be honest. I have seen, read and watched everything about this powder but I try not to fall into too many beauty trends at once.  Before I started to use it I went back and watched Jaclyn Hill’s video on baking with this powder (which is a great instructional video FYI) and I decided I wanted to try it as a setting powder under my eyes and my t-zone first.

RCMA No Color Powder

RCMA No Color Powder

This RCMA no color powder is now my go to as an under eye setting powder as it has stopped every concealer I have tried with it from creasing. I also set my T- Zone with it and it combats my oil throughout the day. In terms of baking its also a winner. It brushes off easy and does not leave any white residue on my face. Some makeup brushes I have used with it are my Real Techniques Miracle Sponge and my Morphe M554 brush to set under my eyes, My Elf Contouring Brush to make my contour line more sharp and my MAC Brush to wipe away for baking.

RCMA No Color Powder

RCMA No Color Powder

I know the packaging is nothing glamorous but I actually appreciate the simplicity and no fuss about it. I simply take the cap off and pour a little powder in the cap and then dip in whatever tool I am using in the cap and it has worked out well. I have also seen multiple bloggers take a used up powder container they have and place some powder in there if the packaging does not fit your needs.

This powder can be found at Frends Beauty for $12.00 but when you sign up for Frends with Benefits discount program you get 10% off EVERY order. Yes every order! How fabulous is that?!! All customers worldwide are eligible to join for free and they offer a pro and non pro discount program. Click here to learn more!

Below is an amazing chart from Frendsbeauty.com that helps you find a face powder that they have in stock that will work best with your skintone.

Have you tried the RCMA No Color Powder? I would love to hear your what your experience has been with it in the comments below. If you have been thinking about it I would most certainly recommend trying it!
