Best Products For Glowing Skin

I am just going to say it, if your makeup is too matte or too flat it will age you! Add in a number over 30ish it can be even worse. I am 37 and talk about this openly on here and on my Instagram all the time. My skin is not perfect by any means but when my skin is glowing I feel better, its that simple. When your skin has a dewy youthful glow with dimension it looks well, youthful! Now do not get me wrong we all have to add in some powder here and there on our face because of oily parts but if you have oily skin do not be afraid to add in glow!!!! MAC Cosmetics has a fabulous video on dewy skin and this is when I had a AH HA moment about placing powder in certain areas ONLY. I use to do it to my entire face. Never again!

When it comes to glowing skin it has to start with your skincare. After I had my kids my skin changed. It was more dry, dull and textured. I started to focus more on my skin and less on makeup. I am going to break down products that I use to get my glowing (no special order – if you want to see a full skincare routine let me know in the comments).

EXFOLIATING IS YOUR FRIEND

I have an oily T Zone and my forehead gets so much texture. An esthetician told me in the summer especially I need to exfoliate 3x a week. When you are exfoliating you are getting rid of dead skin cells, which creates a smoother surfaceThe only product I use is from Origins.

Origins Modern Friction Nature’s Gentle Dermabrasion: This does come with a higher price tag of $40 however you do not need a lot and it will last you. On the origins website you can buy a smaller size for $21. See them HERE and HERE

One other product that just came across my desk to test is the Derma E Microdermabrasion Scrub. Stay tuned as I am almost out of my Origins and will be trying this. The price is $29.00 so its a little less.  Of course that are a ton of other scrubs on the market for less but I just have not tried them. As long as you are exfoliating with whatever works for your skin ect it will help get your glow.  When it comes to skincare when something works I stick with it. The Origins one was introduced to me when I was 26. Have not looked back.

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum: This product was my introduction to acids and I am hooked. This can be an irritate to some.I have sensitive skin but its been great! It has a small amount with 12% AHA/BHA.  I started off every two to three days with this product to be safe. I can easily use it everyday now but still do it every other day plus it will make this last longer. It is very pricey but worth every penny. Per Sephora Site: “Resurfaces dull skin, lifting dead skin cells away by gently dissolving the glue that holds them to the surface. The results are greater clarity and a smoother, more even-looking complexion…Go from a drab complexion to an absolutely luminous one practically overnight” That literally speaks for itself! I did try the Pixi Glow Exfoliating Serum  as its cheaper by a lot but it did not work for me. I broke out.  However that does not mean it will not work for you! You can see it HERE.

Another product by Drunk Elephant I am using is the Baby Facial which has a higher percentage of Acids and I have really loved this. My sister in law got it for me for my birthday as she knew I was really wanting to try it.  A more affordable option ($7!!!!) for this product is by the Ordinary and can be found HERE. I have not tried this product so I can not speak of it but it has great reviews.Glowing Skin

FACE OILS

Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate (Day Time): My holy grail face oil for during the day. You can add ONE drop to your moisturizer if you need to, put it on your face alone or even add to your foundation for a more dewy look. This is a lightweight oil. It will not make you feel weighed down. I like to feel dewy too as feeling dry on my skin in general drives me bananas. This is not for everyone but I want to see the hydration. I would rather look oily or wet than dry and matte. Per Sephora: “strengthens skin’s defenses against daily aggressors to keep skin radiant and youthful-looking. It provides antioxidant protection with a powerful blend of naturally-derived oils—including ginger root, sunflower, and tamanu—to help skin feel fresh and look energized, morning to night” See it HERE

The Ordinary 100% Cold-Pressed Virgin Marula Oil (Night Time): I do not use a moisterizer at night, I use oil and this has been my go to! Guess what? Its UNDER $10!!! See it HERE . So what does this oil do? “This luxurious-feeling oil fights free radical damage, hydrates the skin, promotes elasticity, and helps restore a radiant tone” – Beautylish Site

MOISTURIZER MOISTURIZER MOISTURIZER

If your face and eyes are not moisturized / prepped for makeup properly it will show when you are done with your makeup.  Just like taking care of your skin, the prep is just as important. Three moisturizers that are fool proof for me and give you dewy perfection just as is are:

Belif The True Cream Bombs (Aqua & Moisturizing): Korean Beauty has made its way into my routine and I have fallen in love. Which makes sense because Korean Beauty is all based around hydration! The Aqua bomb is gel based and perfect for summer while the Moisterizing Bomb is a cream and out-stands Chicago Winters.  See Them HERE and HERE

PONDS Crema S Moisturizer: A gem at the drugstore. Its under $10 and will give you a all the glow you need. I do not use this as much as I use to because I have started to notice reactions to certain products. My skin was very sensative after kids. I probably should give this a whirl again but it is scented which could have caused reactions for me. See it HERE at Target.

Kiehl’s Ultra Face Cream: I absolutely love this and they now make one with a SPF which is a plus. I go back and forth  between this one and the ones from Belif. After I apply I never feel that dry feeling around your hair line and cheeks. Which is why I love all of these so much. See it HERE

WANT YOUR UNDER EYES TO GLOW? I DO LOL!!!!

Crows feet? No thanks. I want my eyes prepped for concealer and ready to look glowy and dewy. Here are two I can not live without!

Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment w/ Avocado: This under concealer creates the most beautifully hydrated under eye that allows you to glow! Your concealer will never dry up or crease with this! See it HERE.

Origins Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff: This does EXACTLY what it says it does. If your face is glowing and looking dewy you want your eyes to match. INSTANTLY brightens. See it HERE

Best Products For Glowing Skin

ENDLESS MAKEUP PRODUCTS BUT HERE ARE SOME OF MY FAVS TO GLOW

glowing skinGlowing Skin

LIQUID HIGHLIGHTERS

When it comes to makeup products to glow, liquid highlighters are probably my absolute favorite way to achieve it. I use them in many different ways including before foundation for an all over a glow, mixed with foundation, alone on no makeup days to get my skin looking fresh and as a spot highlighter.  Three of my absolute must have are:

Marc Jacobs Dew Drops:  See them HERE and see swatches and my review HERE

L’Oreal Glotion: See them HERE and see swatches and my review HERE

MAC Cosmetics Strobe Cream: See them HERE and see swatches and my review HERE

POWDERS

Sometimes we think powders are the enemy when it comes to glowing skin but its about finding ones that enhance your glow and that are NOT matte. Also the placement of powder I talked about above. I use to powder my whole face and its just not something that works for me anymore. Whether it’s a bronzer or a setting powder its about finding the right one for you for this specific type of looking skin. Some setting powders come in a natural finish not matte.

Hourglass Bronzer: This bronzer looks so natural and warm on the face and is fused with Hourglasses famous lighting powder in Diffused Light  to mimic a ray of warm sunlight.  There setting powders create the light on your face so this is the best of both worlds because it mixes a bronzer and setting powder in one. See it  HERE. and see my post about other fav bronzers of mine HERE

Colourpop Highlighter in WISP: A powder but its so creamy its like a cream on your skin. It glides on with ease and is only $8. When I tell you I reach for this over any other highlighter I own I mean this. Powders tend to look off on my skin these days but again you have to find the right formula that works for your skin.  See it HERE

MAC Hyper Real Glow Palettes: Just like BECCA Highlighters (another must have but I feel everyone knows about these already lol. If not see them HERE) the MAC glow palettes are soft, creamy and not chunky. Even though its a powder its smooth and gives your skin a dewy look. Never dry. See them HERE

FOUNDATIONSThe last piece of the glow puzzle is foundation! These four give me all the dewy goodness I crave with or without adding in liquid highlighter. Of course if I love a matte foundation I just add in liquid highlighter or apply all over my face then apply the matte foundation. However with these four they have a dewy glowy finish. These are staples for the summer. Who am I kidding, I use them all year long!

NARS Sheer Glow – See it HERE

Maybelline Dewy & Smooth – See it HERE

MAC – Next To Nothing – See it HERE / review and swatches see HERE

L’Oreal  Pro Glow – See it HERE

I hope you all enjoyed this post!!! Of course these products are not in any order but one thing I can say over and over is glowing skin comes from proper skincare and taking care of that first. Also dont forget what works for me may not work for you but that is why return policies are FANTASTIC lol!!

Eye Creams Worth The Splurge: Day and Night

With so many Eye Creams on the market it is hard to tell which ones are worth the splurge. Skincare has easily become one my newest beauty addiction next to concealers (stay tuned I am testing out concealers for a future post) When it comes to beauty I will pay a heavier price tag if it works. Who doesn’t love a good investment?!!? When you search eye creams you will find many articles regarding if this step in your beauty routine is even worth it and I am here to say in my opinion it is! My skin has changed so much in recent years insert aging and kids here lol However once I started paying attention to my skincare routine and saw real results I have become obsessed! Who else is addicted to skincare? There are so many products on my skincare list to buy……Drunk Elephant I am coming for you!!!!

Since blogging I have been very fortunate to have received different types of skincare products from drugstore brands to high end skincare for reviewing purposes.  With my eye area not having any real reactions to different creams its easy for me to test multiple products in a faster amount of time. So I am here to tell you the eye creams I have tried that are worth the splurge and are in my daily skincare routine and or in my skincare rotation.

Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado: I use this at night for hydration. My eyes have gotten so dry and I find the more hydrated they are the more awake I look and the better my concealer applies. Since its formulated with avocado oil this fatty acid helps restore the skin’s natural moisture. When it comes to Kiehl’s products you don’t need a lot of product so your money stretches ALOT!

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye Concentrate: Again a little goes a long way with this eye cream so dont let price tags fool you especially with Kiehls. The products work and last. The Midnight Recovery Cream is filled with essential oils that will help with fine lines, dark circles & puffiness. I like to switch this off with my Avocado cream. Sometimes I layer lol!!

Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm: Ok so this one is pricey howeverrrrr again a little goes a long way. I have been using this since January almost everyday for my day eyecream and I have half of it left.  Here is how its described on Ulta’s website “…nourishing eye cream that visibly diminishes signs of aging around the eyes, while decreasing the appearance of puffiness and dark circles. Alguronic Acid combined with vitamin C, caffeine, as well as cucumber, aloe and green tea extracts help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and helps nourish and hydrate the eye area for a recharged and rejuvenated appearance” I will say I have seen results and it makes concealer go on like a dream!

Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff: I bought this immediately after seeing a YouTube review and fell in love!!! This will INSTANTLY brighten your eye area. I desperately needed something after my son was born because I was not sleeping and my eyes looked horrible. Its a face lift for your eyes no joke! It literally Depuffs and brightens. It just works. Period!
NEW Origins A Perfect World SPF 20 Age-Defense Eye Cream with White Tea: Another winner from Origins which is another fav skincare brand of mine. This brightens instantly, gives hydration and has a creamy texture that allows for amazing concealer application. Here is the information directly from Ulta’s website: “Help prevent the damage you can’t see yet! Origins lightweight, hydrating treatment with antioxidant-rich white tea instantly renews and brightens under eyes while providing irritation-free SPF protection. It helps defend the delicate eye area and neutralize the damaging effects of UV, Infrared Rays (IR), pollution and environmental aggressors. Plus, barrier-boosting edelweiss helps strengthen skin to prevent premature signs of aging. Oil-free. Broad spectrum 100% mineral, irritation-free SPF 20”

Olay Eyes De-Puffing Eye Roller: You instantly feel the magic of the rollers and massaging them on your skin feels amazing. My eyes do tend to be puffy in the morning in general but after rough nights of sleep (mom life!) they are extra puffy. You can see and feel the results!

Klorane BB Eye Cream with Soothing Cornflower: I was pleasantly surprised by this eye cream. It has a roller and is a BB cream (who knew that existed for the eyes??!!) It battles puffiness and dark circles and it does just that. This is another cream that instantly brightens and opens the eye in the morning.

Truffle Therapy Eye Concentrate:  This eye cream is splurge worthy let me tell you! The scent is just heavenly with a texture that is so creamy and hydrating. A little goes a long way for me so you know you are getting your money worth with this one! I have been using it both at night and during the day and I have found my concealer to apply beautifully. If a eye cream is hydrating off the bat its a keeper in my book. Per the Ulta Website: “the Truffle Therapy Eye Concentrate is formulated to the hydrate and nourish the delicate eye area, as well as tighten and smooth for a more youthful appearance. Truffle Therapy Eye Concentrate works best as part of the SKIN&CO Truffle Therapy regimen to help minimize the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and reveal toned, radiant, healthy looking skin”

As you can see I have a theme here HYDRATION & BRIGHTEN! If a eye cream does not give me an instant lift in the morning it gets pushed to the side and at night I need to feel the hydration working for it to remain in my rotation. For night I have only found the two Kiehl’s eye creams to work for me so far. With day eye creams these 5 have held their promises and are in constant rotation. If you are in need of hydration or to look more awake in the morning you can not go wrong with any of these fabulous options and even though they may have a larger price tag they will last and be worth your investment.

Let me know what your favorite eye creams are in the comments below.
